Fall in Love with Work Before You Fall in Love with Anything Else

Love is not something you can only give to other people.  We often associate love with romance, connection, or affection toward another person, yet one of the most transformative types of love is not given to someone else, but given to yourself.  When we focus our love on discipline, growth, and God, we end up receiving the highest return on investment a human can experience.

When you fall in love with work, you fall in love with becoming the best version of yourself.  When you commit to a task, even small, you commit to the process of sharpening who you are.  When you begin that pursuit, everything else begins to self align; health, confidence, purpose, finances, and ultimately, relationships.  The best version of yourself doesn’t emerge when you chase other people, it emerges when you chase excellence, and excellence appears as a result of your work.

Falling in love with work doesn’t necessarily mean you have to become a machine.  It means that you wake up everyday with intention.  Make your bed, go to the gym, work on something. When you do the little things, you start to see progress as beautiful.  It shifts your mindset from showing up because you have to, to showing up because you want to.  Eventually work becomes your standard, and your results become undeniable.

Work and God go hand in hand.  God encourages consistency, and he blesses effort.  Specifically, he blesses the man or woman who takes the gifts he gave them, and works on refining and developing them through labor.  In this sense, to love your work is to honor God and the time you were given on this Earth.  It is one of the most faithful things you can do.

Here’s the truth: When you love your work, you become deeply attractive.  It’s not just about looks, but about the different energy you give off to others.  People are drawn to those who are aligned.  Companies will want you, other high achievers respect you, and opportunities seem to find you naturally.  You no longer feel the need to chase validation from others because your output speaks for itself.

You will go further in life by falling in love with work before you fall in love with anything else.  Romance, friendships, and success will come, but they will come after you’ve built your own foundation. Any successful person will tell you that you can’t reach your full potential without it.  Many people perceive work as the enemy, when in reality, it is the path to a better life.  When you fall in love with it, you’re able to unlock everything that’s meant for you.
